Unveiling the New Timescale Community Templates
Timescale has always been dedicated to empowering developers with the tools and knowledge to leverage time-series data in ways that drive innovation, efficiency, and growth. In our continuous quest to bring more value to different users and industries, we're excited to announce our new Community Templates, live sessions dedicated to specific industries and designed to foster collaboration and expertise exchange.
Our latest initiative addresses the unique challenges and opportunities faced by developers across various sectors through educational live sessions designed to answer questions about particular data challenges and how to solve them using Timescale, along with other data tips. We started with finance (check our sessions below!) and are now moving into IoT, manufacturing, energy, and health—industries that rely on sensor data.

Next Up: Deep Dive into Sensor Data
Recognizing the pivotal role of sensors in IoT, manufacturing, energy, and health, our next chapter focuses on these domains. Sensors generate vast amounts of time-series data, presenting both opportunities and challenges in data management and utilization. To address this, we're hosting four live sessions dedicated to building a strong foundation for working with sensor data using Timescale. Here's what you can expect:
Live session schedule
- March 13: Introduction to the Timescale template for creating a sensors' data pipeline. We'll cover the basics of setting up your data pipeline to ensure a smooth and efficient process for handling sensor data. Watch the recording.
- March 20: A deep dive into data processing with hierarchical continuous aggregates. This session will explore strategies for managing and analyzing sensor data more effectively, allowing for faster insights. Watch the recording.
- March 27: Focus on enhancing query performance and applying downsampling techniques. Learn how to optimize your queries for better performance and discover best practices for downsampling to manage large datasets without sacrificing detail or accuracy. Watch the recording.
- April 3: Guidelines and best practices for implementing policies for compression and retention. Find out how to reduce storage costs while ensuring that your data remains accessible and intact for analysis. Watch the recording.
Engage with the experts (that includes you!)
Each session is designed not just to present information but to foster an interactive environment. We'll be answering questions live, providing direct support to attendees, and discussing real use cases contributed by participants. This is a golden opportunity to engage with experts and peers who share your interests and challenges.
The driving force behind the live sessions is undoubtedly the Timescale community: thousands of data-driven developers and PostgreSQL enthusiasts working on a wide range of projects who are happy to exchange ideas and share their unique knowledge and skills.
First in Line: Finance
We kicked off the conversations with the finance segment, an industry where the accurate and efficient processing of market data streams is vital. The feedback and engagement have been overwhelmingly positive, with numerous findevs coming together to discuss and refine a template for seamlessly ingesting market data.
For those eager to deepen their understanding and enhance their skills in handling market data, we've curated a series of insightful and practical finance videos. Diving into these resources will equip you with the knowledge and tools necessary to tackle the unique challenges of the finance industry. Regardless of your experience level, these videos are a valuable asset for anyone looking to leverage market data more effectively.
